SEARCH ENGINES: OPTIMIZATION, SUBMISSION, & PAY-PER-CLICKS

It's obvious that search engines are the most important tool that people use to find websites. That's why a site that suddenly has a good search engine listing will experience a steep increase in visitors. Even though everybody wants those good listings, most websites appear poorly in search engine rankings (or not at all) because they do not understand how search engines actually work.

It's very important to design your site with the search engines in mind. This process is called Search Engine Optimization, or SEO. It means that your pages are accessible to the search engines and can be read easily and indexed correctly. Taking the time to properly prepare your website will dramatically increase the likelihood that it will be found.

Search Engine Submission is what most people think of when they imagine Search Engine Work. This involves personally requesting that your site be listed on a service such as Yahoo!, MSN, or Google. You fill out a short form, adding information about the website, and presto! Your site will be listed with the big sites (hopefully) in 6 weeks. And that's it, right?

Actually, there's a lot more to it than that. Paid listings are also an important part of Search Engine Work. Using paid listing programs will speed up the process and it will generate traffic immediately. However, it's important to set a realistic budget. If you only want to spend $100 a month to start, you could be out of money in a day or two, depending on the keywords you include and the bids you set for each term.
